Description
Our KS3 English sessions serve as the perfect course to bridge the gap between starting secondary school and preparing for GCSE. Throughout the various blocks of lessons, these sessions will cover a range of topics, so that students get the chance to interact with poetry, prose, Shakespeare, and non-fiction media. The sessions are designed to support their learning in KS3 so that by the time they reach KS4, they have the perfect foundation of skills and cultural capital ready for their GCSEs. Consequently, in addition to further refining and expanding the creative and transactional writing skills that students started to develop in KS2, these sessions will also enable students to acquire new skills that are specific to KS3 such as critical thinking, literary analysis, and essay writing strategies.
Topics vary each year so that students can continue attending throughout Years 7, 8 and 9 and to expose students the broadest range of genres and writing styles possible. This variety and consolidation of skills, in addition to written feedback on regular writing assessments, will ensure that students become experienced and versatile readers and writers.
