Description
Our GCSE Language course is tailored toward Year 10s and Year 11s sitting the AQA exam specification, as this is the most widely used exam board in the UK for English Language. This course will enable students to develop and refine the following skills needed for each element of the exam papers:
- AQA GCSE English Language Paper 1 Section A: being able to analyse a writer’s language choices, narrative shifts and structural choices, as well as form and justify critical opinions.
- AQA GCSE English Language Paper 1 Section B: being able to craft an effective descriptive piece of writing using figurative language, structural features and varied punctuation effectively.
- AQA GCSE English Language Paper 2 Section A: being able to create succinct summaries, perceptive analysis of tone, and nuanced comparative evaluations of different viewpoints.
- AQA GCSE English Language Paper 2 Section B: being able to write an effective persuasive argument by utilising rhetorical devices and adapting tone and register to the relevant audience and purpose.
Throughout the year, we shall cover how to answer the specific question styles of both papers and at the end of each section, students will be assessed with original practice papers in order to receive actionable, written feedback to help them improve their confidence and capability.
